Santiago Community Church (SCC), an independent Protestant interdenominational English-speaking church located in Santiago, Chile, is seeking a full-time resident Minister for its welcoming congregation. According to our statutes the Minister must be ordained in communion with a recognized Protestant denomination. The appointment, made by the Church Council, is for an initial term of three years, renewable by mutual agreement.
At SCC we adhere to and embrace the principles of unity in essentials, freedom in non-essentials and love in everything. Essentials in our Church are defined by our Statement of Faith. Our new Minister is expected to be a competent and instructive preacher capable of preparing quality liturgies. He or she should be an effective, thoughtful educator and a compassionate, proactive shepherd who works well with people of all ages. Reaching out and ministering to younger generations is a priority task. He or she should be able to work with Christians of various denominational backgrounds, helping the congregation to grow in faith, in harmonious fellowship and in service.
SCC attaches great importance to member care, particularly for our elderly and homebound members as well as those with disabilities. We are seeking someone who can lead and inspire all our care programs and initiatives.
Our SCC Minister should be accessible and personable, proactive in connecting with visitors and members of the congregation, as well as those outside the church. The interdenominational spiritual leadership we envisage includes building relationships with other English- and Spanish-speaking Christian churches.
We also expect our Minister to promote the active engagement of lay leadership and encourage members to discover their own gifts for ministry and service.

Specific duties include:
1.The preparation and conduct of the Sunday Worship Services, typically sixty-five minutes in length with 15-minute sermons.1 Children-friendly services should be offered 6-8 times a year.
2.Baptisms, weddings, funerals and thanksgiving services. Preparation of candidates for confirmation and/or reception in the church.
3.Overseeing and supporting the discipleship programs in the church, including the Sunday School for children and youth, Bible Studies, youth groups, all-church retreats, workshops and other initiatives for spiritual growth.
4.Encouraging a spirit of servant leadership among lay members, developing their gifts to be more involved in the worship, outreach, and community life of the Church, as implemented in the various programs of SCC.
5.Pastoral care for those in need, including the sick, the grieving and those who are homebound. Individual counselling and spiritual direction where appropriate.
6.Participation in the leadership of the church, which includes attendance at Church Council meetings and assistance to the Council President and other officials as needed.
7.Welcoming visitors each Sunday, providing informative inquirer´s classes and endeavouring to incorporate new people into the life of the church.
8.Assistance and support in the planning and implementation of the various Fellowship and Outreach activities of the church.
9.Working with and assisting the church administration as needed, providing timely information for service planning, PowerPoints, newsletters, website updates and church communications.

Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must have:
-Appropriate academic qualifications
-Excellent communication and writing skills in English
-A minimum of five years of pastoral experience.

The candidate would ideally have:
-Basic Spanish language skills or a willingness to take lessons paid for by the Church.
-Experience serving in multi-cultural and/or international environments.
